VigRX Plus was one of the male enhancement supplements that was aggressively marketed online. It was boldly proclaimed by its manufacturer, Leading Edge Health, as the “gold standard” of male enhancement supplements. So confident was Leading Edge Health with its first male enhancement supplement that it issued this challenge — “We dare you to try our competitors first.” With VigRX enjoying success, Leading Edge Health decided to push its luck and come with a reformulated version: VigRX Plus. But is VigRX Plus really better than the original?

Ingredients and claims:

The original VigRX formula contained Horny Goat Weed (Epimedium Sagittatum), Cuscuta Seed Extract, Gingko Biloba, Asian Red Ginseng, Saw Palmetto, Muira Puama Bark Extract, Catuaba Bark Extract, and Hawthorn Berry. VigRX Plus contains two new ingredients: Damiana and Bioperine. Leading Edge claims that the latter is not found in any other male enhancement supplement.

Leading Edge Health claims that VigRX Plus can increase erection size in both length and width, strengthen and tone sexual glands, boost blood circulation to your genitals, support the production of sex hormones, provide restorative nutrients that can address anxiety and stressors, improve stamina and sex drive, and cause overall improvement in your sexual health.

While VigRX Plus does contain ingredients that may provide some of its supposed benefits, its formula is not potent enough to live up to the hype. VigRX Plus contains only one vasodilator, Horny Goat Weed, which can mimic the effects of a certain prescription erectile dysfunction (ED) drug and increase blood flow to your penis. The new formulation no longer includes Tribulus Terrestris, which can boost testosterone production. Tribulus was one of the new ingredients when VigRX Plus was first launched.

Bioperine was added to help your body rapidly absorb the ingredients so you can experience the aphrodisiac benefits faster. Other male enhancement supplements have also used Bioperine. Besides, what’s the point of increasing the absorption rate if the male enhancement supplement uses a fairly standard formula?

Positives:

  • Supposedly backed by clinical studies
  • Endorsed by three doctors

Negatives:

  • Lacks key ingredients like L-arginine, Tribulus Terrestris, and Tongkat Ali
  • Two additional ingredients does not justify its expensive price
  • Three endorsers are not exactly leaders in their respective fields
  • Riddled with misleading claims
  • “Clinical study” is not really a clinical study

The Bottom Line:

VigRX Plus and VigRX rely on the endorsement of a doctor who has appeared on television and has published several books. But clearly, VigRX Plus is no better than its predecessor, the original VigRX. Sure, it added Damiana and Bioperine but these two ingredients don’t really make a “big” impact. While Bioperine can help increase the absorption rate of the other ingredients, what’s the point of making the VigRX Plus formula faster to absorb if it still lacks potent ingredients? Unless Leading Edge Health stumbles on the biggest male enhancement discovery, VigRX and VigRX Plus can never hope to be the gold standard of male enhancement supplements.
